The Deterrence of Terrorist Attacks
The European Union (EU) is a political and economic league of 28 nations, based in Europe. It was formed under the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, and currently serves to unify the economic, social and security policies of its member states. It operates through five main bodies: European Parliament, Council of the Union, European Commission, Court of Justice, and the Court of Auditors. Membership to the EU is available to any state with a democratic government, good human rights history, and stable economic policies.

Chair
Brendon Huang
Brendon is currently a junior at Fraser Heights Secondary School and is ecstatic to chair EU at CYDCMUN 2019. Since his first conference 3 years ago, which he only raised his placard once, Brendon has grown to love Model United Nations and everything that comes with it. Now entering his fourth year of MUN, Brendon has now built up the courage to raise his placard a little more at conferences. Outside of MUN, Brendon likes to binge TV shows such as Suits, worrying about tests he has soon, working out, and wasting time. Brendon looks forward to watching a lively debate at CYDCMUN 2019 and wishes all delegates the best of luck at CYDCMUN 2019.
Director
Lincoln Lee
Lincoln is a grade 10 student at Port Moody Secondary School and is honoured to serve as the Director of EU at CYDCMUN this year. Having a passion for political discussion, debate and public speaking, Lincoln fit right into Model United Nations in grade 9. Thanks to Model United Nations, he has been able to develop valuable skills such as public speaking, leadership, and negotiation and has also met those that would later become his closest friends. In his spare time, Lincoln enjoys watching political YouTube videos, playing the guitar, and practicing card tricks. Lincoln wishes that all delegates find MUN as beneficial as he has, and welcomes everyone to CYDCMUN 2019.
Assistant Director
Mikael Borres
Mikael is a Grade 10 student at Burnaby North Secondary School and is excited to be part of CYDCMUN’s EU staff team. The rapid discussion, passionate speeches, and fun atmosphere of MUN conferences got him energized about global politics. Outside of his bleak school-life, Mikael can be seen barely surviving through life—in general. He also takes his time cooking and baking, listening to music, and taking care of his dog. Mikael hopes that your experience at CYDC will be great! Note to any delegate who’s interested in doing the EU committee: Make some pop culture references; he looks highly upon them!
